Above: Yeti from Doctor Who, 1967/68; below, Boohbah from the same stable as Teletubbies, 2004.

(NB that the creator of Boohbah and the Teletubbies, Anne Wood, first got involved professionally in children's literature in the mid-1960s, and got Tom Baker to do The Book Tower in 1979-80...)

The picture you posted makes it look more like a scruffy Womble.

That first photos looks like a toy womble that's been put through the wash too many times!
