Bah.

I know they are within their rights, but it's a crying shame that the BBC have leaned on YouTube to take down all the Doctor Who videos, including the one that particularly pacified little U...

I don't suppose you caught who the author was so you contact him for a personal copy? it was so lovely that she found it so comforting. *sends best wishes*

Oh good news. I was going to ask if you knew anyone who could recreate it for you, but this is a much better solution!

They may be in their rights but how was that video hurting BBC in any way?

Did you save a copy before they did?

Oh, is that what they're doing? My upload of the Infinite Quest was taken down for copyright violation last night, but since I'd put no creative work whatsoever into it, I just shrugged and went on.

For next time: http://www.youtubex.com (an irritating but useful site). Sadly, I have archives of some doctor who mashups from YouTube, but not that one. (I have Cyberspamalot and Moonlight Shadow)

My daughter will also be inconsolable; but fortunately she will understand when I explain. I hope. She's been watching many, many old episodes on YouTube, so it's not surprising that the BBC kicked up a fuss.

I have a feeling it wasn't this mix, but this one is fairly close -- does that help? Grab it quick before they take it down again.

Oh, so that's what happened to three of my favourite mash-ups. Shame really, as I can't see how a tribute to all the companions back to 1963 hurt the BBC at all.

While this is true for the mashups, YouTube didn't just have mashups; it had huge numbers of full episodes in chunks. I'm not surprised the BBC got angry.
