A certain irony

So, on an afternoon when I am being bumped around by a peculiarly named small airline, wondering if I will reach my destination, I happen to be listening to The Faceless Ones, a 1967 Doctor Who story about people disappearing from aeroplanes owned by a peculiarly named small airline.

I just thought you should know.

I wouldn't worry too much. Not unless the story was set 40 years in the then future.

At least the name is less peculiar than it used to be. I flew 'em way back when they were one of the first Eastern Bloc airlines to get access to US aircraft (in my case a DC-9), and were still called InexAdria.

They were flying charters from Jersey to Dubrovnik - and on the one time I flew them, they took a sharp left turn on to the runway, while turning on full thrust. The stewardess said "Ve arr goink", and, well, ve vent.

It's become a bit of a family joke now.
