April Books 3) After Dinner Speaking

3) After Dinner Speaking, by Fawcett Boom

I do quite a lot of public speaking, but there is always room to improve one's technique. Unfortunately I found almost nothing of use in this jumble of tips, snippets and quotations. I only bought it because it was cheap, but it was a waste of £2 and of the 35 minutes it took me to read it.

Surely worth £2 to own a book written by someone called Fawcett Boom.
Or is this an April Fool?

I admit that the author's unusual name was part of the attraction of buying it!

But surely worth it to own a book by someone so magnificently named?

I didn't know you knew Rana btw. More to the point, I hadn't realised you were CUSU....

Hah, I'd forgotten you were a Magdalene girl. It is indeed a small world...

You mean in terms of being a serial non-CUSU member? Yes, my non Cambridge friends could never understand why I never had an NUS card to get discounts on etc. But I made up for it with high jinks at the Union, which is where I met Rana on my third day at university.

Yeah, Rana was President of the Union in my last term. Of course by then I was a very senior hack, having been CUSU Deputy President the year before, and I actually served one term as postgraduate rep on the Council of the Senate.

He was a lot more fun than most of the Union presidents!
