Interesting - according to the linked test, I normally read 599 wpm, but using the Spritz demo, I could read at 700 with no problem at all. It felt less satisfying, though - I'm not sure I could read a whole novel that way.

I've not made a proper attempt at using Spritz, though I did see a very intriguing "Click" item on it. The lack of feedback or interactivity makes it seem to me not so much the next evolution of "reading" as an early, crude stab at direct brain input.

One aspect that springs to mind is word-breaking. The slight oddity of "main stay" as two words in the Orwell text is greatly magnified when they're separated in time, rather than just in space. I wonder if it "flattens the parse tree" more forcibly than normal reading.
