Nice lists about Belgium! But the second one contains an error, I think. If Durbuy has 500 inhabitants, it's not the smallest town in the world. This would be Bronkhorst in the Netherlands: it has less than 200 inhabitants, but it got town rights in the late Middle Ages, so it qualifies as a town.

I must say it struck me as a rather definition-free statement. One thinks of Dixville Notch, with its population of 12...

Yes, but I doubt Dixville Notch would qualify, assuming they were thinking of places with official medieval charters. Even so, Durbuy remains rather a stretch, given the fact that the community of Durbuy (11.000 inhabitants) is much larger than the town centre they were probably referring to.
