I am wondering who this could have been?

“I actually helped a politician to become prime minister in his country.” Can she say who? “It breaks my heart to say it, because he was murdered before his inauguration. I dare not say who, I could be in fear of my life.”

- Carole Ann Ford.

Well, there can't be many prime ministers who get murdered before their inauguration. (Come to that, how many prime minister have inaugurations? That sounds darned odd.)

My best guess is that it was Ted Heath - actually murdered in 1970 and replaced with a Slitheen. But there may be other candidates.

I suspect that some of the details are inaccurate, given that Ford is not a political expert and probably neither is her interviewer. It may not have been a prime minister, and they may have just recently taken office rather than been about to do so.

I did wonder about Zoran Djindjić, but he had been PM for several months at the time of his assassination and, more important, was already a good public speaker (I saw him address a rally in 1997).

The other possibility that came to mind was Vazgen Sargsyan, who had been in office only a few months at the time of the 1999 massacre, but I would be surprised to learn that he spoke English.

Slightly too early for me to believe but this case fits some of the details - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barth%C3%A9lemy_Boganda

Yeah, I think we can rule this out; too Francophone, and Ford would have still been at school at the time!

It's obvious
She means John Smith. Died before inauguration I took to mean before the election.

He was murdered, was he?
