I too loved the Jedi mind-meld; and indeed George Takei's take on it as being quite a reasonable proposition. The only slight snag is that the Jedi lived a long long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, and the Vulcans were a primeval violent society at that point in time, with no warp travel nor propensity for love and peace.

What do these words actually mean?

"I am bored with the Rainbow Music Channel and am considering changing to another."

Meh, geeks don't pay attention.

"These are not the droids you're looking for"-Jedi Mind Meld, called as such within established canon. Vulcan mind meld lets you read minds and transfer thoughts and emotions, jedi mind meld lets you persuade people, including large groups of people. Obama was 100% correct, but some people don't know their Star Wars very well.

(and yes, I did used to know far far too much about the Star Wars background, forgotten most of it but...)

Kermit, Shakespeare, Mona Lisa's smile.
Didn't Bates say that part of Shakespeare's enduring greatness is that his texts support multiple interpretations? Ambiguity is part of the fascination of great art.
