That 1936 list of writers...

I know and have read a lot of Cabell and Cather, and something about and by Frost and O'Neill.

I know the names of Lewis, Millay, Dreiser and Santayana as writers - though I would struggle to put them into any kind of context. I might have guessed US writers, but couldn't have pinned them to the Thirties.

I've never heard of Benet or Adams, as far as I can recall, at all.
