Was very happy to get this yesterday.

However, as someone whose reading speed is not the fastest in the world, I really wish they could have gotten it out earlier than two months before the voting deadline....

Well, y'know, it's only five weeks since the nominees were announced; also this is only the fourth year (barring the one-off from the 1990s) that we've had an electronic Hugo voter packet at all, so I'm glad of what I can get!

Ah - y'know, that's a good bit of perspective there. :)

Meh - I'd never pay money for a PDF book so I hate it when people go for how much it might have cost me as a selling point - I wouldn't use a Worldcon membership as a way to pick up cheap books. (And many I'm only going to read to be an informed voter - I'd never have the desire to pay cash money for them.)

I do think it does serve a very useful purpose in allowing Hugo voters to become informed votes (especially in categories I have little interest - I'm willing to read and vote, but not pay additionaly money.)

I dunno if your objection is to the PDF format or to ebooks in general; my own preferred format is the old almost extinct .prc, and about half of the pack are available already in that version (and it's easy enough to convert the rest from .mobi or .epub); I think only one or two were in .pdf exclusively.

But if you just don't like ebooks in any format, this certainly won't convert you.

No, I like ebooks - read them all the time on my ipad. Pdf is a terrible ebook format as fonts can't be scaled. I'd never pay money for a book in pdf.

All but one of the novel category is pdf only and Calibre can't seem to convert them to epub (despite being advertised as DRM-free.) I've tried and they spin forever.
