Belfast's Malone Road in 1927

Fascinated, via Slugger, to find this photograph taken in Belfast in 1927.

As pointed out by Mark McGregor in comments here, it's the corner of the Malone Road and Lennoxvale - the stone pillar and big red brick house behind are still there, and there is still a post box on the same site, though alas not the same one.

Interesting. Is the person in blue a child, or a short woman - or were pillar boxes taller in those days?

The railings probably disappeared during WWII when they were gathered up as metal for the war effort. My parents house, on the Oldpark Road, was one of the few to keep some railings because an old man lived there at the time and used the railings as his only means of support to walk to the gate. The people collecting railings took pity on him and left them.
