Whoniversary 15 July

15 July 1941: birth of Geoffrey Burgon, who composed the memorable incidental music for Terror of the Zygons and The Seeds of Death Doom (thanks, djm4), and also the music for Monty Python's Life of Brian and much else besides.

Interesting - I hadn't realised he'd done Doctor Who, but then I suppose the music credits are not ones that you necessarily notice much. The TV work of his I've always been most aware of was Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, and particularly the haunting setting of the Nunc Dimittis that was used as title music, but IMDB shows the huge range of his work.

Seeds of Doom; classic Dr Who fan error. ;-)

"The Burgons" would make a good race of monsters. "Vengeance of the Burgons" ... "Terror of the Burgons" ... I like it.
