A lot of what is said is true.
I was married once before and when my ex-husband and I divorced, all I asked for was to remain on his insurance plan (where I worked had none). So, until I moved to the UK, I was tied to my ex-husband.

I much prefer the NHS-especially with regards to preventative health care. As I get older, this is very key.

It's sad how so many (mostly conservatives) in the US don't see the problem.

When I was last in the US, I was amazed at how many commercials on television were for prescription medicines (which you never see in the UK).

Only two countries in the world allow direct-to-consumer advertising of prescriptions meds, the US and New Zealand. Unfortunately, because up north of the border we get US TV pipied in on cable, effectively that covers Canada too.

I've had Americans lecture me online about how they're so much freer than me on account of being American (er - whatEVER) and then read posts by the same person about how they can't leave a job they hate because of health insurance. Cognitive dissonance anyone?
