I can't quite believe this

TV version of George R.R. Martin's A Game of Thrones to be made in Belfast.

Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness making a joint sytatement about GRRM is, well, bizarre, incredible, unreal and just odd. Great news, of course. (Probably.)

Though, to be fair, Peter Robinson and Martin McGuinness making a joint statement about anything is still quite surreal. ;)

Wait, they both went to Hollywood to negotiate the deal?

During our recent trip to Los Angeles, the First Minister and I met with senior executives from HBO to help finalise the deal to bring the TV production here.

The two most senior politicos in NI travelled to LA to persuade HBO to film a fantasy TV show in Belfast.

I agree with your title.

Northern Ireland's "Income" - £33Bn
Time Warner's Income - £46Bn

It's a close one as to whose executives are worth more :->

The NI Civil Service budget is only around £8 billion, so I think that answers the question!

"HBO has an enviable reputation for offering very high quality, original programming, receiving critical acclaim for its productions including Sex and the City, Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers and of course The Sopranos.”

My first reaction is that I don't want to hear Peter Robinson say the word 'sex'.
My second reaction is to imagine him ruefully saying 'and of course' as he remembers not to say that NI is uniquely suited to a HBO production.

They had to put Sex and the City in there, because if they just said "HBO is known for quality drama like Six Feet Under, Oz, The Sopranos..." people would be wondering if HBO hadn't always be based in NI.

Whilst there, they managed to persuade HBO to re-dub the Sporanos, this time using the word "feck".
