My name is Nicholas.

Not Nick. Or "Nico". That is all.

Yes I have to say I don't know what it is but names are really personal things that sometimes don't get the respect they deserve. I don't mind being called Dee or D. by people I know but for people to start using it upon introduction drives me nuts. I have to admit though that the spelling of my name or the misspelling of it is the thing that really bugs me. I before E except after C and in the spelling of DEIRDRE. The use of surnames is another rant I could have but won't cause there's only some many hours in the day.
Can you guess that this is a topic I've ranted about before?

ditto.

Oh and Coronation Street needs to be nuked for the Deer-Dree pronunciation

Sadly it's the whole of the North of England you'll need to be nuking. What is your prefered pronunciation?

Deer-dra is as close as I can make it, I don't mind it if they're reading off something but if they're using it as often as some customer service idiots seem to think personalises the call and they're pronouncing it back to me wrong almost every sentence then I really want to kill.

As for i before e except after c, this "rule" is ancient, I'm afraid, and weird.
