Dustin's triumph

I was just updating Anne about the Prophecy of Father Ted coming true, and finished by telling her the name of the successful song.

Her comment: "Well, that will be the only time that phrase is heard all evening..."

I fear all your diplomatic skills may be needed to justify Dustin's Eurovision performance internationally. Myself, I may well find it less blush-inducing than 'Riverdance'...

I wouldn't underestimate the potential for the population of the UK (and the Irish diaspora within it) to realise the potential for a rather amusing way to show how unseriously we take the Eurovision.

I never watched the Eurovision, but this time I will want a YouTube compilation of all the different commentaries to the Irish entry -- compiled from the program as shown in all the different countries (with subtitles in English or Lolcat at least for the languages I don't understand).

this is a great idea. I would particularly like it if all the commentators were conforming to their national stereotypes.

JOY! And I am not so sure it won't work. Think of Lordi for Lordi's sake. Heck I'd vote for it and I might even watch a bit of the show because we have sent a turkey. Remember when he ran for President? Although, on balance, I think I am glad Mary Robinson won.

Although people in Ireland will not actually be able to vote for Dustin, and people outside Ireland will not understand him.

Can't be worse than last year's mess. 'You Can't Stop the Spring'? Yech! At least Dustin is going to puzzle them rather than just make them heave.
