Belgium's electricity supply
The article points out that the main supply source of electricity for Belgium is nuclear (about 50%) which doesn't cost anything more if it runs continuously 24/7, the fuel cost is trivial compared to the operating and construction costs of the reactors. Electricity demand overnight drops so running streetlights is one way of using up that capacity as a communal benefit.
