Worrying statistic: hare vc hair

alphabets
I am alarmed to discover that Google has 51 hits for the phrase "chase a wild hair [sic]" but only 39 for "chase a wild hare", which, it should go without saying, is very obviously the correct spelling. Life is very strange.

Edited to add: Per tortoise in comments I tried again and got 403 hits for "hair" and 59 for "hare". Which is a little more reassuring.

I get 300-something for "chase a wild hare" vs. 52 for "chase a wild hair". Google's hit counting is notoriously inconsistent.

Nicholas, perhaps the "chase a wild hair" is more to do with balding trends than poor spelling.

Tortoise, perhaps Nicholas's post sent numerous people off to find a hare.
